Memoir Writing Retreats for Women

Creating Your Life Story:  Your Work of Art, Level I

Everything you’ve ever been, or done, or thought, or known, or experienced up to this present moment has given you the background to recall and write your story.  During the writing retreat, you will experiment, discover, explore, and journey to find your own voice.  Participants will write together, and read aloud to one another the work they have just written in a safe, nurturing, fun environment on the Pacific Ocean.  By learning and practicing the step- by- step process and responding to writing exercises and activities, you will produce a first draft of a number of pieces of writing for your family and friends to appreciate.  When you return to your home, you will have the opportunity to polish your writings for grammar and punctuation, and choose whether to participate in Creating your Life Story: Your Work of Art, Level II, and Creating Your Life Story, Level III.  The advanced levels will require focus, discipline, commitment, a passion for writing, and a strong desire to share your work with a larger audience.

Trainings

Sally O’Brien is a professional writer and author of her just-published inspirational memoir, Love Offerings to the Universe , and she has over 25 years of teaching writing at the high school and college level.  Nine years ago, she designed “Creating your Life Story: Your Work of Art.”  She first taught it as an eight-week college course in Hilo, Hawaii, and then developed it into a writing workshop program. In addition, she began a private coaching practice for those committed to writing their life stories.
She now brings her rich writing and professional background to her Westport, Washington. workshop retreats to lead each participant in the exploratory journey to find her own voice.  A contributing writer in Chicken Soup for the Soul at Work, she knows how to write an inspirational true story that opens the heart and re-kindles the spirit.
Exercise the art of writing in a peaceful, safe, supportive, and nurturing sanctuary on the ocean with lots of inspirational writing assignments as well as invaluable group discussions. Her workshop retreats are open to inexperienced and experienced female writers from throughout the world who want to produce a number of polished autobiographical or memoir writings perhaps for family and friends to appreciate this holiday season and would like to explore this South Beach historical seaport community on the ocean in western Washington.
